Rectors and vice-rectors of the best Polish HEIs alongside with universities department deans met for the ceremony of the announcement of the XVI Perspektywy University Ranking winners. The event took place on June 9, 2015 in the Central Agricultural Library in Warsaw. The laureats were greeted by prof. Marek Rocki, Polish senator, Head of the Polish Accreditation Committee, dr Piotr Bauć, Polish senator, Head of the Seym Education Commission, prof. Daria Lipińska-Nałęcz, Vice-minister for Science and Higher Education, Jacek Kozłowski, Mazovia Voivoda, Ranking Board chaired by prof. Michał Kleiber.
Jagiellonian University and University of Warsaw won ex aequo in the XVI Perspektywy University Ranking 2015. The third place went to Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. The further three positions are occupied by the best Polish technical universities: the fourth place ex aequo share Warsaw University of Technology and Wroclaw University of Technology, with AGH University of Science and Technology right after them in the fifth position.
Kozminski University has defended its status of the leader in the group of private-owned HEIs. Right after if – University of Social Sciences and Humanities (SWPS), the school that not only obtained the status of an university, but also cut the gap to the leader by half.
The third position was occupied by Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw. State Higher Vocational School in Kalisz became the winner in the category of the Best Vocational Schools.
It is the 16-th time that Perspektywy Education Foundation announced the results of the University Ranking 2015.This year Ranking has evaluated 87 universities, 70 private-owned HEIs with Master degree qualifications, 30 State Vocational Higher Schools as well as 43 fields of studies. ”Our Ranking is not just a tool to be used by secondary school graduates and their parents for further education path choosing. This Ranking is a source of knowledge on the actual state of the Polish higher education, a panoramic picture made here and now, showing Polish universities, their ambitions from different yet non-random perspectives”, Waldemar Siwinski, President of Perspektywy Education Foundation and National Perspektywy Ranking creator, says.
Professor Michał Kleiber, Chair of the Ranking Committee, former Head of the Polish Academy of Sciences, emphasizes that the Ranking may also become an indicator for a university. ”On the basis of the knowledge and the analysis of the world trends in rankings as well as the information gathered during these 16 years of national ranking experience, we may draw conclusions and suggestions on which aspects of activities should be developped and which priorities to set. If the Ranking is understood this way, it may become an important impuls to building a quality culture at univesities.”
Once again, Perspektywy Ranking by Subject 2015 was published, giving an overview of the 43 main fields of studies (by 6 more, compared to the previous year).
The Ranking Board also gave the following special awards: Human Resource Distinction 2015 – for the best faculty training strategy – conferred to National Defence University as well as Advancement 2015 award.
The latter went to University of Lodz (in the group of state universities) for advancing from 21st to the 16th position in the Ranking. In the group of private-owned HEIs the award went to Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University (AFMKU) – for advancing from 12th to the 7th place.
